2021-22 NFL Schedule The teams that favor the match schedule
DSince the 2020 season ended, NFL teams already knew their rivals for the season. It was announced that it was going to expand to 17 matches, but those rivals were also already known.
Even with so much prior information, revealing the calendar on Wednesday changes things a lot, since although they knew who and where, the when changes everything, especially considering trips, more or less days of rest and other factors that could alter the next campaign. There is no clearer example than Houston in 2020, that started against Chiefs, Ravens, Steeles and Vikings, and after the 0-4, they fired their coach and they continue in a negative spiral from which they have not emerged.
Who benefited? Who were the harmed? We review.
Baltimore Ravens: Baltimore starts three of the first four on the road … but they should be favorites against the Raiders, Lions and Broncos. They could all win well and then they have four games in a row at home plus a bye week.. They finish with three of the last four at home, And although they are against Playoff teams (Packers, Rams, Steelers), they should be favorites against everyone.
Atlanta Falcons: be careful with Atlanta, what about the week 1 to 8 they only have two rivals who were in the Playoffs in 2020 (Bucs, Washington). Four of the other rivals have won 6 games or less in the last year and are not seen with considerable improvement (Eagles, Giants, Jets, Panthers). And they only have a cold weather game (Buffalo, week 17), something vital for a dome team.
Washington soccer team: From week 5 to 10 they go against Saints, Chiefs and Packers, Broncos, rest and Bucs, a streak as complicated as any other, but they are among the winners because they start with 2 at home and from week 11 onwards, they only face to a 2020 winning team, including the last five against divisional rivals, something not seen since there are 32 teams in the NFL, so they won’t be out of contention no matter what, until December.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer can get their season on the right track, because they start in Houston (perhaps without Deshaun Watson), followed by matches against Broncos and Cardinals at home, both teams from the West Coast traveling across the country for an early game. If the dressing room is stable after the peculiar Draft and the theme of Tim Tebow, A 3-0 or a 2-1 would not be unreasonable.
Indianapolis Colts: Their first five rivals won at least 10 games in 2020 (Seahawks, Rams, Titans, Dolphins and Ravens), followed by a breather with the Texans, after which the difficulty level went up with the 49ers and Titans. They are one of two teams that have three consecutive away games and they have the latest bye week, 14.
Dallas Cowboys: They are one of two teams that will not play home the first two weeks and it is against the champions Bucs and Herbert’s Chargers. On December they have three games in a row outside of Jerryworld, something that only two other teams have.
Philadelphia Eagles: They are the only team that has 4 games in a span of 17 days; that is to say: Monday, Sunday, Sunday and Thursday. After an uncertain start because Atlanta and San Francisco may be better than in 2020, they have this string of Dallas, KC, Carolina and Tampa. Don’t settle for that, 5 of his next 7 after hosting the Bucs on Thursday are away. Oh!.
Pittsburgh Steelers: this case is not because of the beginning, but because close with Ravens, Vikings, Titans, Chiefs, Browns and Ravens again. If they do not arrive with a good mattress, the end of the season can be a very steep slope for a very veteran team that we already saw deflate in 2020.
Detroit Lions: little is expected of the team and less with the 49ers, Packers, Ravens and Bears starting.
