Finally, with the signature of President Alberto Fernández, Chief of Cabinet Juan Manzur, and Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, the 2021 Budget was extended by decree after the defeat of the ruling party in Congress when it sought to approve next year’s Budget .

In this way, the document establishes: “As of January 1, 2022 govern, by virtue of the provisions of article 27 of the Law on Financial Administration and Control Systems of the National Public Sector No. 24,156 and its amendments, the provisions of Law No. 27,591 on the General Budget of the National Administration for Fiscal Year 2021, its modifying and complementary norms ”.

In a second article, the brief decree “instructs” the head of the Cabinet of Ministers to “adapt, in a timely manner, the budget that is being extended” by means of the previous article in order to comply with “the Law of Financial Administration and Control Systems of the National Public Sector”.

The Financial Administration Law is the one that establishes a specific mechanism to extend the National Administration Budget Law from one period to the next when a year begins without Congress having approved the “law of laws”. The decree that the Executive published today in the Official Gazette is based on that rule.
