Within the framework of the start of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2022, which takes place in Madrid, Spain, ProColombia and the Caro y Cuervo Institute launched the first illustrative guide to cultural tourism so that professionals in the sector can appropriate the wealth of Colombia and later contribute to promoting it.

titled as ‘COcreate, COnectar, COnservar: Illustrated Handbook for Culture Tourism Guides’, the new tool was presented at the Cervantes Institute in Madrid, in the presence of the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana; the Colombian Consul General in Madrid, Gloria María Borrero; the president of ProColombia, Flavia Santoro; and representatives of other associations in the sector.

”We had good reason to adopt these three concepts. COcreate, because we seek to include all the actors in the tourism chain to generate and strengthen links, exchange knowledge and jointly highlight our cultural diversity; Connect, because in this process of creating joint experiences a close bond is generated between the guide and the traveler; between the national and the foreigner; And CONSERVE because having created and connected culture, we decided to admire it, live it and protect it”, explained the president of ProColombia.

The 300-page guide is divided into the six tourist regions of Colombia, in which, in addition to finding illustrations of each of these zones, the workers of the sector and in general all Colombians, you will find files of the main tourist attractions of each region.

Among them, ProColombia highlighted that the guides and other citizens will be able to find the nine tangible assets of Colombia; its nine intangible cultural heritages; the three creative cities of music, and the three creative cities of gastronomy from the country.

In addition, as multimedia support to the book, also a series of podcasts were developed where all the information related to the manual is expanded.

“Culture is the fabric of society and what better than having a guide like this book to give visitors much deeper tourist experiences that really connect them with the destination and its inhabitants, leaving an important legacy of development”Santoro stated.

ProColombia likewise recalled that this new manual is a continuation of ‘Contemplate, Understand, Conserve: Illustrated Manual for Nature Tourism Guides in Colombia’, which was released during the Madrid Book Fair 2021.
