INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Four people are dead and one injured after multiple people began shooting at partygoers at a house near Los Angeles early Sunday morning, authorities said. .

At around 1:30 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at a city of Inglewood home, Mayor James Butts told reporters.

Two women and two men were shot to death, and another man was hospitalized in serious condition and was expected to survive, CBS2 reported.

Butts called the shooting an “ambush” in which multiple weapons were involved, including a rifle and a pistol. The mayor called the incident the worst shooting in Inglewood since the 1990s.

It appears to be a targeted attack, he added.

Butts asked the suspects to turn themselves in to authorities. “We will find them and process them,” he said.

Authorities are looking for several suspects, he said. Police questioned witnesses and combed the neighborhood for possible security camera footage.

The man who survived admitted to being a member of a street gang from another city and investigators are trying to determine if the shooting is related to any gang conflict, CBS2 said.

Inglewood has about 100,000 residents and is located about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southwest of downtown Los Angeles. It houses SoFi Stadium, where the NFL Super Bowl will be played next month.
