The regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), Daniel Zovatto, went through Voice and Vote and analyzed the prospects and challenges for Latin America in 2022.

In that sense, he said that there will be “new social outbreaks and protests in Latin America” in the event that “regional governments do not give effective responses to the demands of citizens.”

In this regard, he said that governments have been worn out by the pandemic in recent years and analyzed the electoral contexts in recent months where “punishments” have been given to ruling parties.

He also anticipated what could happen with the elections in Colombia and Brazil, the referendums in Chile and Mexico and the mid-term elections in the United States, where President Joe Biden shows signs of wear.
