SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Klay Thompson had the best shot since ending his 2 1/2-year injury layoff, a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left that gave the Golden State Warriors a 110-106 victory on Saturday. about Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets.
Irving didn’t give up, hitting his own 3-pointer moments later. The star, who refuses to be vaccinated against COVID-19, scored 32 points on a night he was booed by the crowd in the San Francisco Bay area.
Thompson finished with 16 points, Stephen Curry gave the Warriors a go-ahead 3-pointer with 5:09 remaining and he made five free throws in the final 1:44 for 19 points.
At the other end of the floor, Irving put on a terrific performance as Kevin Durant and James Harden remain injured.
Andrew Wiggins had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors, who stopped opponents in crucial moments. They had Irving miss a reverse layup with a minute left.
