Johannessen wins the fourth stage of Étoile de Bessèges, Thomas continues to lead

The Norwegian cyclist Tobias Halland Johannessen, from Uno-X, won the fourth stage of the 52nd Étoile de Bessèges this Saturday, after a 145.6-kilometre journey in the Gard department (southern France), between Saint Hilaire de Brethmas and Mont Bouquet.

At the top of a short but steep climb, 4.6 kilometers with a gradient of 9.6%), the winner of the 2021 Tour del Porvenir prevailed ahead of Australian Jay Vine (Alpecin-Fenix) and Italian Antonio Tiberi (Trek-Segafredo).

Frenchman Benjamin Thomas, from Cofidis, retains the overall leader’s jersey that he achieved the day before during the most mountainous day of the race, although Italian Alberto Bettiol, from EF Education-EasyPost, and Johannessen follow him at 7 and 8 seconds, respectively, in the general classification.
