Cam Heyward makes Steelers’ fans April Fool’s Day an absolute nightmare

April 1, 2022

Pittsburgh star Cam Heyward sent Steelers fans into panic mode with a April Fool’s Day prank saying he had been released.

We have seen some classic April Fool’s Day pranks over the years, but people may have forgotten to check their calendars on Friday and realize it’s April 1. This was made clear for plenty of Pittsburgh Steelers fans.

Early in the day, stud defensive tackle Cameron Heyward fired off two tweets letting the fanbase know that he had played his last game with the team. Heyward went as far as to say that the team had cut him.

Cam Heyward pulling a fast one on Steelers fans is classic

If you take a look at the replies of Heyward’s tweets, Pittsburgh supporters couldn’t believe the news and they were downright furious with the team for this move. Alas, this was all a huge joke, as Heyward indeed pulled a fast one on everyone.

This wasn’t the only great prank pulled off, as Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku posted a tweet saying he was going to demand a trade. That tweet even fooled Ian Rapoport, who quote tweeted it. Rapoport then deleted that one.

For Heyward, he’s been with the team since 2011 and has been downright sensational. In his time at Heinz Field, Heyward has been to the Pro Bowl five times, earning First Team All Pro honors three times. In 2021, Heyward was a First Team All Pro selection after posting 89 tackles and 10 sacks.

The thought of him leaving the team and suiting up elsewhere was heartbreaking for fans to even think about. Fortunately, Heyward was just having some fun on Twitter and he’s not going anywhere. The defensive lineman will be ready to keep his strong play going in 2022 for Pittsburgh.
